Reviews
When you combine Filipino food and Soul food, you get the deliciousness that is FlipnSoul. With an extensive menu and tons of options to choose from, my friend and I were a little overwhelmed but super excited to try this place out. We came closer to closing so there wasn't too much of a wait. However, it should be noted that there isn't too much parking available around the restaurant and it's to-go only at the moment (so no dining in), but I think it's worth checking out! -- - Fried Chicken-n-Shrimp combo ($18) // This came with two sides (where my friend and I both chose Mac n Cheese and Lumpia) and fried shrimp and chicken. The fried shrimp was delicious and juicy, paired perfectly with the sweet and sour sauce it came with. The fried chicken, on the other hand, was seasoned well but was on the dryer side and a bit overcooked. The lumpia were nice and crunchy and the Mac n Cheese was also good, but slightly too oily. Overall a delicious meal though!
Yum yumm & yummm. I have been dying to try this place for months. Finally my boyfriend brought me last week and it was great. If you know, the line at this place is always CRAZY long! I'm not sure about there days of operation or hours. I know forsure they aren't open every day though, because I've driven by and they were closed plenty of times. We drove by, nobody was in line so we parked and I looked at menu pics I seen online. I couldn't decide so I told my boyfriend to just pick for me. He ended up ordering an OG plate & salmon and shrimp plate. OG Plate came with 2 cat fish, 3 fried chickens, garlic shrimp & fried shrimp over rice. Everything was seasoned great! It was cooked thoroughly. Garlic & Fried shrimp plate over rice came with a side of mac n cheese and collard greens. Again, everything seasoned great. Huge portions! They are pricey, but you pay for what you get and it was worth every penny! I will definitely be back & highly recommend them.
I was debating between chef smelly or flipnsoul but chef smelly doesn't open till 5 so we decided to come here. There is some street parking here, and we were lucky enough to get a spot right in front. We got there about 5 minutes after they opened (2pm) and there were already a few people outside waiting for their orders. We got the fried lobster with fried chicken plate + fried shrimp, and the garlic shrimp rice plate with extra fried chicken on the side. We chose mac n cheese and greens for the sides. Our order took about 30 min to come out, which I was alright with since the lady taking my order told me it would take at least 30 min. They give very large portions, so although the food was a little pricey, we had enough food for a few meals. The fried chicken was overcooked and dry, and the fried lobster also wasn't that pleasant. I gave them 4 stars since they are family owned and a small business, but the chicken just wasn't that great. I was glad I ordered the extra white sauce or the meat would have been too dry. I enjoyed the mac n cheese, and the greens very much! The greens were not too salty at all, most soul food places the greens are so salty they can barely be eaten. The name is also a bit misleading because there aren't very many filipino food options. Maybe they will add sisig or pancit in the future.
Review July 2020: No parking so you have to circle the block a couple times. No seating. Togo only. The days special are on the white board posted in the window. ( some have no prices) Line is forming before they open. Once I ordered it took 15/20mins for food I had one order: garlic noodles & Shrimp & cup of ice for my water $15+ Taste is decent good amount of shrimp -very buttery. I will try another day & sample other items when in the area.
I went to this establishment today and I ordered the fried chicken and my friend ordered the lobster og plate. Food was good. My chicken was yummy, the lumpia was okay - the whole plate was really delicious. My friends meal looked divine. I didn't try it but it sure looked and smelled real good. The wait was about 45 minutes for our food to be prepared, they texted me when it was done. It was a little pricey, the fried chicken wasn't to bad- $13, but the lobster cost 40 dollars. I was really satisfied was the portion size. Pretty good place, definitely worth a try!
